Since its inception, the Child Care Council of Westchester has been advocating on behalf of the child care needs of Westchester's children and families. Providing a coordinated voice for families and child care providers alike, the Council positively affects the climate of child care in the County through:

Information and Research
Media outlets, government offices, elected officials and other non-profit organizations look to the Council for an informed perspective and the latest information on the county's child care needs. To keep abreast of the market, the Council conducts and distributes industry research on a regular basis. The Council's Supply and Demand Survey; Survey of Salary, Benefits and Working Conditions for Center-Based Staff; and the Transportation Survey are vital tools in advocating for Federal, State and County support of child care initiatives in Westchester County.

Advocacy
The Council regularly advocates to Federal, State and County representatives for pressing issues affecting child care, including:

Increased child care subsidies for low-income working families.
Funds for the expansion of infant and toddler child care programs.
Support for national accreditation of child care programs.
Improved compensation for staff of child care and school-age programs and family child care providers.
Funds for capital construction.

Policy development that supports working families with their child care needs.
