Funding Opportunities

The following grants are available to child care programs.

Early Childhood Development Grants
Grants from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services are available for:
Health and Safety Grants ( $10,000)
Child Care Center and School Age Start-up/Expansion ($25,000 to $100,000)
Inter-generation Day Care Start-up ($ 150,000)
Expanding Care for Non-Traditional Schedules ($20,000 to $ 200,000)


The Community Development Block (CDBG) Program

The Community Development Block (CDBG) Program is a federal urban assistance program. A focus of this grant is for capital improvements of child care facilities. The grant is offered every three years, with the next application cycle starting in Spring 2008.

Child Care Facilities Development
The NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York have grants up to $1,000,000 for non-profit corporations for construction or renovation of licensed centers or registered school-age programs.

The Educational Incentive Program (EIP)
This was created to promote the professional and career development of those working in the field of child care. Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and can be used for workshops, conferences, credit-bearing courses and credentials within the child care profession. If eligible, providers can access up to $2,000 for the calendar year 2007, based on their household income.
