NYS Office of Children and Family Services
Grants ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services are available for non-profit organizations interested in starting an after-school program. The following grants are available from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services to non-profit organizations who presently run a registered after-school program:

Health and Safety Grants ( $10,000)
School Age Program Expansion ($25,000 to $100,000)
Accreditation Efforts (up to $10,000)
Inter-generational Child Care Start-up ($ 150,000)
Expanding Care for Non-Traditional Schedules ($20,000 to $ 200,000)

21st Century Community Learning Centers (21CCLC)
Community-based organizations are now able to apply for funds through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers program. The purpose of the 21CCLC program is to create or expand Community Learning Centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities outside of the regular school hours, primarily for children who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools, as well as literacy and other educational services to the families of the participating children.

Advantage After School Programs (AASP)
The NYS Office of Children and Family Services invites community-based organizations working in partnership with local elementary, middle and high schools and other organizations or businesses to submit proposals for the creation or expansion of quality youth development programs in the out of school time hours.
Future funding opportunities will not be announced before the end of May 2007.

The Community Development Block (CDBG) Program
The Community Development Block (CDBG) Program, is a federal urban assistance program. One of the priorities of these grants are "day care"- activities that address the need for day care services to allow low and moderate income adults to return to work. These activities are for scholarships, expansion/rehabilitation of facilities, etc.

Child Care Facilities Development
The NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York have grants up to $1,000,000 for non-profit corporations for construction or renovation of licensed centers or registered school-age programs. For information phone 518-474-9454.

Educational Incentive Program (EIP)
The Educational Incentive Program (EIP) is a scholarship program designed to assist child care (that includes school age care) providers obtain the training and education they need to provide quality care to children. In order to be eligible for the scholarship funds, school age care providers must be caring for children in a program that is licensed or registered with the NYS Office of Children and Family Services or the NYC Department of Health.

If eligible, providers can access up to $2,000 for the calendar year 2007, based on their household income.
