"Language, Literature and Love for Infants"
by Claudia Quigg and Jan Mandernach
This article discusses a program in Decatur, Illinois called Baby TALK (Teaching Activities for Learning and Knowledge) that is dedicated towards improving the parent-child relationship from an early stage, that is upon birth or, in some cases, during prenatal care. Baby TALK focuses upon working with parents to teach them about their child’s development in order to promote best practices when it comes to promoting literacy later on in life. Baby TALK provides an integral support network for parents and childcare givers, bringing together many different groups in order to ensure that parents and childcare givers have access to all the resources they need for their child.
