Born Learning Turns Everyday Life Into Learning
Born Learning, an exciting new public engagement campaign that reinforces the importance of early learning is here in Westchester thanks to a partnership between the Council, the United Way of Westchester and Putnam, the Westchester Library System, the Westchester Jewish Community Services’ Parent-Child-Home Program and other community agencies.
The goal of Born Learning is to inspire everyone who impacts young children (e.g., child care providers, parents, grandparents) to use everyday experiences (e.g. cooking, picking up laundry) as opportunities for learning. For example, when cooking, you can ask a child to count the number of eggs or at the laundry, to name the colors of the clothes.
“This inspiring new Born Learning program will help to ensure a better start for our children by turning ordinary, everyday experiences into learning opportunities,” says Naomi Adler, President and CEO of the United Way of Westchester and Putnam.
The Council plans to use Born Learning materials in our work with child care providers and programs as well as directly with parents and other caregivers.
