GAME ON! Connecting with Middle School Youth
Learn best practices, marketing and branding techniques and cutting-edge activities for middle school students at “GAME ON! Connecting with Middle School Youth” on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Crowne Plaza White Plains. This workshop is made possible with funding from Work Family Directions on behalf of the IBM/Work Life Fund.
The featured speaker is Alejandro Molina, Deputy Director at Providence After School Alliance and former Director, Middle School Initiatives/The AfterZone. The mission of Providence After School Alliance is to expand and improve after-school opportunities for the youth of Providence by organizing a system to ensure all youth's have access to high-quality after-school programs and learning opportunities. Mr. Molina will discuss the proven strategies that the “AfterZone Brand” delivers to engage middle school students. According to a recently released report, AfterZone has produced some impressive educational benefits including significantly lower school absences. Results for school performance were also promising. Two-year participants earned math grades that were about one-third of a grade higher than their non-participating peers.
