Position Desired: Head Teacher
Schedule: Full Time
Town I live in: Dobbs Ferry
Highest Degree Obtained: Post Graduate Degree
Area of Concentration in College Work: M.ED concentration was in early childhood education with an emphasis on early literacy for 3 and 4 year olds.
Description of Current or Most Recent Position: I am currently employed as a public school teacher of Italian. I was an elementary Italian teacher for 9 years. During these years, I was often used as a resource in kindergarten for early literacy using multi-sensory reading strategies. Once the foreign language program was discontinued in the elementary schools due to budgetary constraints, I was offered a position in the middle school. At that time, over half of the middle school population was enrolled in Italian as a foreign language due to their elementary school experience. I have been at the middle school for three years. This position does not offer me the ability to work with young children. Therefore, I am currently seeking a position as a pre-school teacher.
Dates of Employment in Current or Most Recent Position: September, 2005 to Present
Description of Previous Position: Previous to my current position, I worked in the field of early childhood education. I was employed by Community Nursery School in Dobbs Ferry (CNS) for eight years. During my time at CNS, my job title ranged from Assistant Teacher to Summer Camp Director. My responsiblities as a summer camp director consisted of running a six week program for 50 three and four year old children and the supervision of a staff of 15 teachers/counselors. Additional duties involved the development and implementation of a daily cirriculum, communication with the parents of current and/or prospective students and the coordination of financial and administrative aspects of the position. As a teacher, I planned curriculum, assessed the developmental growth of students, advised and listened to parents during parent/teacher conferences, and established effective classroom management. As an Assistant Teacher, I supported the lead teachers in pre-kindergarten classes and designed a multisensory art program.
Dates of Employment in Your Previous Job: June, 1998 to August, 2005
More About Me: My passion lies in the emotional, social, physical and cognitive growth of young children in a developmentally appropriate setting. I believe my background in early childhood education is strong but my delight in working with young children is even stronger.
