For 2023, we are also asking that the parent share be reduced from 10% (of income over Federal Poverty Level) to 1% and that new strategies be put in place to ensure that children experiencing homelessness are referred for child care, Head Start and Early Head Start.
Wheter you are a parent, grandparent, child care/after school professional, advocate or someone who wants to see all of Westchester's children get off to a great start, here's what you can do:
Join me at the Board of Legislators Public Budget Hearings:
- Nov. 16th, 7pm, Ossie Davis Theater, New Rochelle Public Library, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle, NY 10801
- Nov. 30th, 7pm, Chappaqua Performing Arts Center, 480 N. Bedford Road, Chappaqua, NY 10514
- Dec. 7th, 7pm, Board of Legislators, 148 Martine Avenue, 8th Floor, White Plains, NY 10601
You can sign up to speak (up to 3 minutes) about why child care funding is needed, while thanking both the County Executive and the Board of Legislators for their tremendous support for child care. Or you can simply attend and support others speaking on child care.
Watch for our next email which will also contain an electronic letter supporting child care which will go to the County Executive, Deputy County Executive and your County legislator. Stay tuned!
Thanks!
Kathy Halas, Executive Director
